GUELPH DEFEATS WOODSTOCK IN HIGH SCORING AFFAIR

Guelph - There were runs aplenty on Sunday at Tip O'Neil Park in Woodstock, as the Guelph Silvercreeks outlasted the Woodstock Wranglers 12-9. Guelph collected 15 hits, while Woodstock Wranglers also had 15.

MacEwan Cole collected five hits in five at bats in the win. Cole doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

Woodstock Wranglers opened the scoring in the first with a solo home run to center field.

The Wranglers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after a single to center field, and a sacrifice fly, each scored one run.

The Silvercreeks flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring eight runs on four hits to take the lead, 9-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Brendan Boys that drove in two.

Ryan Lieng earned the win for the Guelph Silvercreeks. The hurler gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one.

Sam McMillan stepped on the hill first for the Silvercreeks. The righty gave up six hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Judah McArthur and Liam Karn each appeared in relief for Guelph.

The Silvercreeks amassed 15 hits in the game. Andrew McMillan led Guelph with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Jackson Heimbecker collected two hits for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U in six at bats.

Guelph Silvercreeks will travel to Hamilton to face the JR Cardinals for their next game on Monday July 5th. Game time is 7:30pm.
