GUELPH BATS COME ALIVE IN LOSS TO KITCHENER

Guelph - Bats were blistered on Wednesday night at David E. Hastings Stadium, but the Guelph Silvercreeks couldn't quite get the job done against the Kitchener JR Panthers and lost 15-11. Kitchener collected 11 hits, while Guelph tallied 13.


Ryan Cutten collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Cutten tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

Kitchener got on the board in the top of the first inning after a single down the right field line, and a groundball double play, each score one run.


Guelph took the lead in the bottom of the second. MacEwan Cole doubled, scoring three runs, to give the Silvercreeks the advantage, 3-2.

A sacfly helped Kitchener tie the game at three in the top of the third.

Guelph took the lead in the bottom of the third. Jackson Heimbecker singled, scoring two runs, to give the Silvercreeks the upper hand, 5-3.

Kitchener captured the lead, 7-5, in the top of the fourth with a walk, scoring one run, and single, scoring three runs.

The Silvercreeks jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Cutten tripled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Kitchener went back into the lead with a walk scoring a run, Guelph then committed an error, and a Panther single down the right field line, each scored one run.

Andrew McMillan hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Guelph tie the game at 10 in the bottom of the sixth.

A single by Evan O’Driscoll gave the Silvercreeks the lead, 11-10, in the bottom of the eighth.

Kitchener flipped the game on its head in the top of the ninth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 15-11. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple that drove in two.


Jacob Morgan took the loss for the Guelph Silvercreeks. The left-handed pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one. Tanner Luker stepped on the hill first for the Silvercreeks 22U. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one.


Guelph Silvercreeks collected 13 hits in the game. Cole led the Silvercreeks with four runs batted in. The third baseman went 3-for-6 on the day. Heimbecker led Guelph with four hits in six at bats. Guelph showed patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Aidan Edmunds and Noah Cantwell led the team with two bases on balls each. Guelph turned one double play in the game.


The Silvercreeks next league play will be at home on Wednesday July 1st against the London Badgers. Gametime is 7:30 pm at Hastings Stadium.
