CREEKS DEFEAT CAMBRIDGE BEHIND CAPTAIN CLUTCH COLE

Guelph - MacEwan Cole drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Guelph Silvercreeks past the Cambridge Cubs 12-9 on Friday at David E. Hastings Stadium. In the second inning, Cole doubled, scoring three runs.
Bats blistered as Guelph collected 13 hits and Cambridge Cubs tallied 12 in the high-scoring game.
Cambridge Cubs got on the board in the top of the first inning after a single to left field, a single to center field, and a Guelph error, each scored one run.
Cambridge Cubs added another run in the second after a fielder's choice.
Guelph jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Cambridge committed an error, Sam McMillan walked, and Cole was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
The Cubs doubled down the left field line, which helped Cambridge tie the game at eight in the top of the eighth.
Guelph took the lead, 12-8, in the bottom of the eighth thanks to singles by Tanner Luker, and Ryan Cutten.
Jacob Morgan opened the game for the Silvercreeks. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Cutten, Evan O’Driscoll, Noah McArthur, and Kaylum Cargill each appeared in relief for the Silvercreeks.
Guelph piled up 13 hits in the game. Cutten and Aaron Mander each collected three hits for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U. Brendan Boys led Guelph Silvercreeks 22U with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Caleb McArthur stole two bases.
Next up for the Guelph Silvercreeks is a game at Volunteer Field against the Ancaster Angels on Sunday Julty 12. Game time is 1:00pm.
