COLE DRIVES GUELPH PAST ANCASTER

Guelph - MacEwan Cole collected three hits in five at bats, as the Guelph Silvercreeks defeated Ancaster Angels 11-7 on Wednesday evening at David E. Hastings Stadium. Cole tripled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.

Ancaster opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Ancaster Angels first got on the board after a single, scored two runs.

Guelph flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Tanner Luker that drove in two.

Ancaster took the lead, 7-5, in the top of the fifth thanks to back-to-back-to back singles .

Guelph tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth thanks to two singles. The Silvercreeks tied the game at seven on a single by Brendan Boys.

Guelph made the score 11-7 in the bottom of the eighth after Jackson Heimbecker singled, scoring one run, Peyton Markwood doubled, scoring two runs, and Sam McMillan doubled, scoring one run.

Caleb McArthur earned the win for the Silvercreeks. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Judah McArthur led things off on the mound for Guelph. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking four. Evan O’Driscoll pitched two innings of zero-run ball for the Silvercreeks in relief. The hurler allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Guelph Silvercreeks piled up 15 hits in the game. Luker led Guelph with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Boys, McMillan, and Markwood each collected multiple hits for the Silvercreeks. Guelph turned two double plays in the game.

Next up for Guelph is a game at Hastings Stadium against Cambridge Cubs on Friday July 10th. Game time is 7:30.
