GUELPH CAN'T ERASE A SIX RUN DEFICIT IN LOSS TO KITCHENER

Despite a 6-run deficit in the fifth inning, the Guelph Silvercreeks almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-8 to Kitchener JR Panthers 22U on Tuesday night at Jack Couch Park. The Silvercreeks closed the gap by scoring on a solo home run, a ground out, a dropped third strike, and a sacrifice fly.

Guelph collected 11 hits and Kitchener had 11 in the high-scoring affair.

Kitchener opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. The Panthers first got on the board when a Kitchener single, scoring two runs.

Guelph made the score 4-2 in the top of the second inning when Aaron Mander hit a solo home run to left field, and the Panthers pitcher induced Caleb McArthur to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Ryan Cutten hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the sixth for the Guelph Silvercreeks.

Kaylum Cargill took the loss for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U. The righty went one inning, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out none and walking one. Logan Miziolek opened the game for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U. The righty gave up six hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one.

Guelph piled up 11 hits in the game. Aidan Edmunds provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Silvercreeks with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Brendan Boys and Mander each collected multiple hits for Guelph.


The Silvercreeks play at home on Wednesday against the Welland JR Jackfish in their next game. Gametime is 7:30 pm at Hastings Stadium.
