GUELPH OPENS SEASON ON A SOUR NOTE IN WATERLOO

Guelph Silvercreeks had trouble keeping up with Waterloo Tigers n a 9-3 loss on Tuesday at Bechtel Park in Waterloo.

An error put the Tigers on the board in the bottom of the first.

Waterloo extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to two RBI singles by the Tigers.

Jacob Morgan pitched three innings in relief for the Silvercreeks. The pitcher surrendered two hits and one run (zero earned) while, striking out four and walking four. Logan Miziolek took the loss for Guelph. The righty went one inning, allowing six runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking four.

Jackson Heimbecker and Caleb McArthur each drove in one run for the Creeks. Tyler Williams paced Guelph with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Williams stole two bases. The Silvercreeks turned one double play in the game.


Guelph Silvercreeks play their home-opener on Wednesday against the Hamilton Cardinals.

Game time is 7:30.
