GUELPH'S HOME OPENER SPOILED BY THE CARDS

Even though the Guelph Silvercreeks collected six hits to Hamilton JR Cardinals three, they still fell 6-2 on Wednesday at David E. Hastings Stadium.

Jackson Heimbecker led the Silvercreeks with two hits.

Hamilton got on the board early and lead 4-0 by the middle of the second inning.

Ryan Lieng pitched three innings in relief for Guelph. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out three and walking none. Liam Karn took the loss for the Silvercreeks. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up four runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking five.

The Creeks did show patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Aidan Edmunds and Sam Kim led the team with two bases on balls each.


Guelph Silvercreeks will travel to Kitchener for their next game on Tuesday May 26th where they will face their Highway 7 rivals the JR Panthers. Game time is 7:30 at Jack Couch Park.
