GUELPH SILVERCREEKS LOSE TO THE BRANTFORD RED SOX

Guelph - The hometown Guelph Silvercreeks could not keep pace with the Brantford JR Redsox 7-5 on Wednesday at David E. Hastings Stadium.

The Silvercreeks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Aidan Edmunds singled to center field, and Jackson Heimbecker flew out, each scoring one run.

Brantford tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to two singles.

Guelph took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fifth thanks to singles by Ryan Cutten, and Noah Cantwell.

In the top of the sixth inning, Brantford went back into the lead after a Red Sox homerun to right field, and a Creeks error, each scoring two runs.

Judah McArthur opened the game for the Silvercreeks. The hurler gave up six hits and five runs (four earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one.

Guelph accumulated nine hits in the game. Cantwell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Silvercreeks with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Edmunds, MacEwan Cole, and Cutten each collected two hits for the Guelph Silvercreeks.

Next up for the Guelph Silvercreeks is a game against the Cambridge Cubs on Sunday at Dickson Park in Cambridge. Game time is 5:30pm.
