SILVERCREEKS DEFEAT JACKFISH

Guelph Silvercreeks topped the Welland JR Jackfish 6-3 on Saturday in Guelph.

Guelph jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Owen Sartor scored after tagging up, and Zach Martens singled, scoring two runs.

Sartor hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second for the Guelph Silvercreeks.

Guelph added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Aidan Edmunds walked, and the Silvercreeks scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

Matthew Cutten earned the win for Guelph Silvercreeks. The righty allowed four hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Sebastien Lafontaine started on the bump for the Guelph Silvercreeks. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and three runs over two and one-third innings, striking out five and walking seven. Ryan Cutten collected the save.

Martens led Guelph Silvercreeks with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Martens and Sartor each collected two hits for the Silvercreeks. Guelph turned one double play in the game. The Silvercreeks were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jackson Heimbecker had the most chances in the field with 14.


Next up for the Guelph Silvercreeks is a game at Ancaster versus the Angels on Sunday.
