SILVERCREEKS PUT A DAMPER ON THE NATIONALS HOME OPENER

Owen Sartor collected three hits in five at bats, as the Guelph Silvercreeks defeated the Stratford Nationals 9-2 on Thursday night at National Stadium. Sartor doubled in the seventh inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Guelph Silvercreeks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sartor doubled to center field, Liam Karn walked, and Zach Martens walked, each eventually coming around to score.

Ethan Rampersad earned the win for Guelph. The hurler gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Sam Bolger took the loss for Stratford Nationals. The starter went four innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out four and walking five. Jackson Markwood, Sebastien Lafontaine, and Matthew Cutten each threw scoreless innings for the Silvercreeks in relief.

Guelph accumulated nine hits and tallied 15 walks for the game. Martens, Aidan Edmunds, and Noah Cantwell led the team with three bases on balls each. Ryan Cutten stole two bases. Guelph stole four bases in the game.


Next up for the Guelph Silvercreeks is a game at Hamilton versus the JR Cardinals on Monday.
