SILVERCREEKS RALLY TO BEAT THE CUBS

Guelph Silvercreeks rallied to best Cambridge Cubs 9-5 on Wednesday. Guelph Silvercreeks trailed by as many as four runs during the game.

Cambridge opened the scoring in the top of the fifth thanks to two errors. The Cubs first got on the board when an error scored two runs.

The Silvercreeks tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a walk by Luca D'Emilio, a single by Noah Cantwell, and a single by Tanner Luker.

Guelph captured the lead, 7-4, in the bottom of the seventh after Brendan Boys grounded out, Owen Sartor singled to the right side of the infield, and Kyle Magdic singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Logan Miziolek earned the win for Guelph Silvercreeks. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Matthew Blythe took the loss for Cambridge Cubs 22U. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Jackson Markwood stepped on the mound first for Guelph Silvercreeks. The starter gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking three. Matthew Cutten tossed one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for Guelph Silvercreeks in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Guelph Silvercreeks amassed nine hits in the game. Zach Martens and Boys each collected two hits for Guelph Silvercreeks. Boys led Guelph Silvercreeks with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Guelph Silvercreeks turned one double play in the game.

Guelph Silvercreeks play at home on Friday against Waterloo Tigers in their next game.
