CANTWELL POWERS THE CREEKS PAST THE ANGELS

Noah Cantwell drove in six runs on three hits to lead the Guelph Silvercreeks past the Ancaster Angels 18-5 on Sunday. Cantwell doubled in the third scoring three, doubled in the second scoring two, and hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth scoring one.

Guelph Silvercreeks flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring seven runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Aidan Edmunds on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.

Guelph scored nine runs on seven hits in the top of the third inning. Logan Miziolek singled, scoring one run, Owen Sartor drew a walk, scoring one run, Cantwell doubled, scoring three runs, an error scored one run, Zach Martens singled, scoring one run, Edmunds singled, scoring one run, and Judah McArthur singled, scoring one run.

Tanner Luker earned the win for Guelph Silvercreeks. The starter allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking three. Judah McArthur also appeared in relief for the Guelph Silvercreeks.

Guelph tallied 17 hits in the game. Edmunds and Cantwell each collected three hits for Guelph Silvercreeks. Martens, Luker, Tyler Williams, and Liam Karn each collected multiple hits for Guelph Silvercreeks. Sartor paced Guelph Silvercreeks with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.


Next up for Guelph is the ICBA Quarter Finals. The Silvercreeks take on the Kitchener JR Panthers in sudden-death playoff action, Tuesday July 22nd in Kitchener at Jack Couch Park. Game time is 7:30pm.
