SILVERCREEKS BOUNCE BACK HUGE AFTER TOUGH LOSS TO WATERLOO

There were runs aplenty on Wednesday, as Guelph Silvercreeks bested the Ancaster Angels 17-8 at Hastings Stadium. The Silvercreeks collected nine hits, while Ancaster Angels had 16.
A passed ball put Ancaster Angels on the board in the top of the first.
Guelph captured the lead, 7-1, in the bottom of the first after Ancaster committed an error, Sawyer Whitaker walked, Aidan Edmunds walked, Zach Martens walked, Tyler Williams was struck by a pitch, Brendan Boys grounded out, and the Silvercreeks scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
Guelph added one run in the third. Boys hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 8-2.
The Silvercreeks scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to right field by Ryan Cutten.
Max Rutherford earned the win for the Guelph Silvercreeks. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking one. Simon Rennick took the loss for Ancaster. Jackson Markwood started on the hill for the Silvercreeks. The starter allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Sebastien Lafontaine, Tanner Luker, Judah McArthur, Kyle Magdic, and Ethan Rampersad each came on in relief for Guelph and shutdown Ancaster.
Guelph Silvercreeks accumulated nine hits in the game. Noah Cantwell and Owen Sartor each collected two hits for Guelph Silvercreeks. Boys led Guelph Silvercreeks with four runs batted in. Whitaker led Guelph Silvercreeks with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 11 walks for the game. The Silvercreeks turned one double play in the game.
