CREEKS LOSE LATE INNING HEARTBREAKER

Thursday's game against the Stratford Nationals was a heartbreaker for the Guelph Silvercreeks, as they lost the lead late in a 7-6 defeat at Stratford. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Kale Murray drew a walk, scoring one run.
Guelph Silvercreeks opened the scoring in the first after Jackson Groves singled, scoring one run.
The Silvercreeks added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Stratford committed an error, and Aidan Edmunds doubled, each scoring one run.
The Nationals scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to right field by Murray.
Stratford captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fifth after Jacob Hall singled, Luke Murray was struck by a pitch, and Nathan Graff singled, each scoring one run.
Guelph tied the game up in the top of the sixth thanks to two . The Silvercreeks tied the game at five on a wild pitch.
A double by Murray gave the Nationals the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the sixth.
Quinn Gammage hit into a fielder's choice, which helped Guelph tie the game at six in the top of the eighth.
Matt Rumney began the game for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Evan Heinbuch stepped on the bump first for the Nationals. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and five runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.
Edmunds, Alex Wickett, Sawyer Whitaker, and Groves each collected one hit for Guelph. Edmunds and Groves each drove in one run for Guelph Silvercreeks 22U. Wickett stole two bases.
The Guelph Silvercreeks will travel to Hamilton for their next game as they face the Jr Cardinals on Monday.
