Guelph – Despite strong pitching performances and outhitting their opponents 5-3, the Guelph Silvercreeks still fell to the Welland Junior Jackfish 3-1, to open their 2021 Junior Inter-County baseball campaign Wednesday evening at Hastings Stadium.

Silvercreeks starter Justin Philp logged three innings of work surrendering two earned runs on two hits. Philp was followed by Andre Campbell (4 K’s 0 Hits) and Nick LoStracco (3K’s 1 Hit) who shut down the Jackfish over the final four innings.

The Silvercreeks Blaise Shaw knocked in Noah MacKillop in the fourth inning for the Creeks lone run of the game. The Silvercreeks left eight men on, tallied four walks and struck out seven times in the seven inning affair.

The Creeks hope to turn things around on Sunday when they welcome the Hamilton Junior Cardinals to Hastings Stadium (game time 7:30)
